We appreciate your cooperation in allowing the Office of Residence Life to focus on the many activities associated with opening the residence halls for the upcoming semester. Students who plan to arrive in the area before the official check-in date may consider staying at one of the many hotels located near the Mahwah campus.<\/p>\n
return to top Ramapo College of New Jersey distributes college related information electronically to Ramapo issued email accounts. All residents are required to have a Ramapo College email account. <\/b><\/span>Residents are encouraged to check their email and campus mailbox on a daily basis. Residents will be held responsible for information disseminated in this way.<\/p>\n In addition, residents are encouraged to review the Office of Residence Life website: www.ramapo.edu\/reslife <\/span>for pertinent information such as:<\/p>\n Guide to Community Living<\/a> Meal Plan Information<\/a>\u00a0Suggestions on What to Bring<\/a><\/p>\n return to top Property insurance provides residents with protection against damages and losses that may occur while at college, home, or when studying abroad. Residents can have peace of mind knowing that their personal property investments will be protected. All residents are strongly encouraged to obtain property insurance.<\/p>\n Ramapo College of New Jersey is an agency of the State of New Jersey and, as such, is covered by the New Jersey Tort Claims Act NJSA 59:1-1 et. seq., the New Jersey Contractual Liability Act NJSA 59:13.1 et. seq., and the availability of appropriations. The State of New Jersey does not carry public liability insurance, but the liability of the State and the obligation of the State to be responsible for tort claims against its employees and property are covered under the terms and provisions of the New Jersey Tort Claims Act. Ramapo College of New Jersey is represented by the State in legal matters.<\/p>\n Ramapo College of New Jersey does not have insurance covering residents\u2019 belongings. Therefore, residents are strongly urged to get property\/renter\u2019s insurance or be added to their parent\u2019s homeowners insurance. Tort Claim Forms may be obtained from the Office of Business Services located on the 1st floor in the D-Wing and online via the NJ Risk Management website: www.state.nj.us\/treasury\/riskmgt\/forms.shtml<\/span>. However, residents can easily connect with their roommates by using their Ramapo email account. Each Ramapo email account includes a built-in directory, allowing residents to search for and email other members of the college community, including their roommates.<\/p>\n Connecting with your roommate ahead of time can help you coordinate who will bring shared items and start building your relationship before move-in day.<\/p>\n Please follow the steps below to find and contact your roommate:<\/p>\n return to top Once housing assignments have been made, the Office of Residence Life is unable to accommodate room change requests prior to the start of the semester.<\/p>\n Residents interested in requesting a room change must submit a Room Change Request Form during the open room change period. More information about the room change process, including important dates and instructions, is available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Please note that housing costs vary across campus depending on the building, area, and type of housing unit. If a room change is approved, prorated housing charges \u2014 and any applicable changes to the resident\u2019s meal plan \u2014 will be assessed and adjusted accordingly on the student account. Residents are encouraged to review housing and meal plan costs through the Office of Student Accounts website<\/a>.<\/p>\n return to top Once a resident withdraws from housing, they must reapply if they wish to request housing in the future. Please note that housing deposits are non-refundable and will be forfeited upon withdrawal.<\/p>\n Residents who would like to withdraw from housing prior to the start of the semester must email admissions@ramapo.edu<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n Housing withdrawal requests must be sent from the resident\u2019s Ramapo email account and must include the following information:<\/p>\n
